1199 Panigale sprocket set up

Ok,

I've read a few posts wrt the standard sprocket config.
Am I right to assume that the 15/41 set-up is the best and I should just do it immediately to my new 1199 (Not S)

Or is the standard set up the best and I should put up and shut up?

There is no "best". It is a preference. If you want a little quicker takeoff, go for it. You can keep the stock chain and 39 tooth rear and just drop a tooth down front to 14 n save money by not having to replace your chain. It's like a 2.5 tooth up in the rear. 15/41 will gain u max top end mph. 14/39 will lower your top end mph. Difference is not night n day unless you spend most of your time above 170mph or prefer to minimize the number of shifts while at the track. If money isn't an issue, go the 15/41 route and shed a few grams with aftermarket parts.

The most fun with road going vehicles happens between 30 and 120 MPH. That being said, I went with a AFAM 15/41 lightweight kit and couldn't be happier. Shop around though, some places are a bit high.

I got mine here...

I went with the 520 kit, with the understanding that the extra weight loss comes at the expense of durability. My 1199 is a weekend toy, not a daily ride so I can live with that.

I also got a nice anodized alum. hub to top it all off from CNC Racing.

BellissiMoto - CNC Racing Drivetrain Parts, Nuts, Hubs, Flanges

Performance wise, the pull you get from the bike is amazing. Between this and the Akrapovic cans, its like a new bike.

Aesthetically, the black anodized parts with the gold chain looks like the way it should have come from Ducati.

I would ride it first and then decide after you have some seat time with he 15/39. It's all preference based on your riding style. If you end up wanting more low end pickup then go for the 15/41 or the 14/39. I went with the 15/41 and am happy with it. I haven't needed anymore top speed...

I went with the 14T up front. Like it alot. Helped some of the surginess and throttle cutting out under 5k. Not completely but helped 50%. Part was $75 and $50 in labor to swap it out. No new chain or other parts. I was trying to save a few bucks.

Stock is dope, I would hate to go any lower.

Right now most roads I ride I can do in 2nd which tops out at 100mph.

Lower gears and im adding to many shifts on my normal canyon riding.


Ride it first. Then ride it a few months because no matter what gearing you have, it will seem tall.
