I remember that bradp51 posted a picture showing how to cut these two M8 threads into the first cap models. If you have such a cap (2012, maybe 2013?), you can either modify it yourself with a M8 screw tap or buy a new OEM oil filter cap at your local dealer (if money is no issue ).

Hey Desmo, if you want to do it yourself, hit me up since you are not that far from me.

I already did my first oil change and it was simple. I have a nice big garage to work in.
Thanks from desmotesta

Just FYI...the older bikes without threaded holes, 2013-R included, have a small detent on the bottom side of the cover (bottom of the cover 6 o'clock position) just big enough to fit in a small flat blade screwdriver to gently pry the cover off - or use a right angle pic tool...."jus sayin"

Thanks for above info. Surprising the cap doesn't have a hook or something in the center to grab on to.
For reference. My 2013R's cap is threaded with the M8 threads. 👍

Yep, just did annual oil change. 2013R has the threaded holes. Still a mess to change. Always surprised that whoever designed, didnít think how you should change oil without making a mess.
