High mileage 1199, take two

The 1199 is now a few years older, do we have any members with really high mileage Panigales?

I'm quite interested of the reliability of these bikes in the long term.

We can tell they are not reliable in the short run. Will that improve with more miles?

24k km 1299. It's just 15k miles, so it's not that bad...

Coming up on 50,000k. I bought the bike 2 years old - the first owner only put 3,000k on in two years. So in two seasons since I have owned the bike, I have averaged just under 24,000k per year.

No track, daily commute and long annual trips. I have had the bike going into third year this spring, small nuts and bolts falling off nothing major. Certainly not as bullet proof as my V4 Honda, but the Ducati is so much more fun and exciting to ride......

I have no fear jumping on the bike and riding across Canada - did that last year.... Many have talked about serious issues regarding reliability - that has never been my concern.
Thanks from Phl, youngR and Mrdcook2

You mean 1199? Or Ducati's?
What issues will come with high mileage?

I have a 2012 1199 with 15,000 miles on it, including about 40+ track-days.
The first year of ownership was horrendous; Ducati shipped these bikes before they worked out the bugs (first year of production).
Once Ducati NA took care of the issues, I have not had any problems other than a cooling system hose splitting. So, the last 11,000 miles have been trouble free with the exception of the valve cover bolts vibrating loose. (Buy some safety-wired valve-cover bolts from Phil in the Forum.)

close to 15 k miles

no real issues, hot start problem - evap canister removed. heat from exhaust - well you know the deal, leaking valve coves - titanium bolts, aside from that, just a few nuts and bolts that got lost.

fork seals leaking now - but that was after the öhlins cartridge install, so i don't blame the forks.

I have a 2013 1199S. Had the rear valve cover leak, ordered Phil's safety wired valve cover bolts - working on that now. I do not consider that a major issue, more of a minor annoyance.

I have always enjoyed the bike, accept some small idiosyncrasies of my 1199 that have never been an issue with my Honda. I would have no hesitation to buy another Panigale in the future - only regret is my local dealer is not very good. They are charging a "HANDLING FEE" to order parts from Italy!

+1 hot start problem - evap canister removed - this was my first mod and it made those annoying hot starts disappear.

I added a Rapid Bike R module and that was the best modification to date - changed the bike's nature completely. If I bought another Panigale, this would be the first thing I would add immediately.

What is the function of the evap canister?

Is this mod?
