VIN Production Number

In the VIN last 6 digit production number sequence are all Panigales lumped in there (looks like it) or is it possible to differentiate between models?

I Ride: '13 S ABS in the correct colour
From the manual. Pretty sure the type of motorcycle is the same regardless if Panigale model.

Agreed. Thanks for this. Looks like there's 11,500 plus Pani's out there and climbing.

Does anyone know what the 'P' and the 'W' stand for specifically in the above VIN?

I Ride: Ducati 2010 SFS, Ducati 2012 1199 S
I'm just as interested in what the 4th letter stands for as it's not mentioned in the manual.
ZDM?

It seems the 7th character may designate engine size.

U = 899 cc
P= 1199 cc (edited; However SL is also 1198 cc - same as Panigale 199 yet both have different 7th character, so that's trashed this theory!)

The 5th character designates model I believe

4 = Superbike or Panigale (I think and is common to both the 899 and 1199 but the 1198's had an 'X' rather than a '4' as the 5th character.

So that leaves me just wondering about the 8th character. The 1098, 1198, 899 and the 1199 have 'W' as the 8th character.

So what does W designate?

Z = Italy
D = Ducati
M = Motorcycle (I think).
