Notice-Water pump leak

I have a 2015 Panigale 1299S. I sent it to MelilliMoto for the 600 mile check up. No complaints there. Adam is a really good tech at MelilliMoto and was a race team tech for Danny Eslick. I had a slight/small water pump leak. Adam said it was pooling between the base of the cylinder heads. He said they are seeing this. He said the seal/gasket did not fail. It is an issue of the silicon applied around the seal. He fixed it and told me to keep an eye on it. I thought, "great, it'll let loose on Saturday morning practice at WERA Cycle Jam when we race Road Atlanta." That will be my luck 500 miles from home. Anyway, just wanted to give everyone a head's up that this issue is popping up around the water pump. Adam said you can remove the left upper fairing on the battery side and see down into the motor. You guys just remember this when you go over your bikes.
Thanks from Phl

Thanks for this, can you brief of how it was fixed? ( does one have to pull engine covers?) is it possible to post a pic of what to look for?
I'm taking my bike on its first long ride tomorrow returning on Sunday and would have liked to know what I'm looking at.

Can I ask if you guys having water leaks are exposed to high ambient temps? We have been having days of around 35 - 38 degree C, and I have had to sit in traffic seeing the temp gauge going to 108 C, so wondering if there is a common thread in that and I may be next?

Funny enough my bike is in the shop for its first service and they found a slight leak coming from there so now it's being fixed under warranty.. Apparently it's a mechanical seal that isn't sealing properly

Weep hole leak

I have a thread up on this. This happened to my 15 1299s at 400 miles. Mine was leaking a mix of oil and coolant out of the weep hole. The side case needs to come apart to get access to pump. Mine was replaced under warranty with new one. No cost to me but they bent over a few fins on the rad while replacing the water pump which annoyed me a bit.

I had noticed dry coolant on the LH side of my 1299 as well. My assumption was that it was coming from the waterpump telltail hole. I had cleaned it off after numerous rides and rechecked--always small amount of dried coolant. Decided to start it in the shed on the stand and observe it. Even before operating temp I could see it start to dribble out of this hole. Took it to dealerhip and bugger me, it has not leaked for them. They can see where the coolant has pooled(I did not clean last lot off) but are not going to replace anything until they can physically see it leaking. They have said this is unheard of to them on the 1299.

I know of 6 cases besides mine and it is a well documented issue for ducati. Just have a search on this forum and show your dealer. I would suggest you find a different ducati dealer or call their headquarters. I know it can be difficult for some as the dealers are spread out, but a statement like that tells me they are full of shit.

Oil leak after first service at 400 miles HELP

That's the link to my original post... Have a read at that and see how common people are saying this type of thing is with ducati.

By the way i have owned 848 1098 1199 and now the 1299s had issues will all of them but was within extended warranty. My 1098 crank bearings were toast at around 9 k miles. Plastic retainer ring went bad. Word of advice get the extended warranty

I can see where the dealer is coming from, wanting to see for themselves, but there was quite a bit of evidence from the weep hole to where it actually pools. Like I said to them, what must I do now, ride like there isn't a problem and blow the thing up, or even worse, coolant goes on rear tyre and I fall off.
