Don't pay more than 21k for New or Demo? I had a dealer contact me today. I had reached out a week ago, guess he was getting through his inbox. My goal is 21k OTD, for me that is the 1299 and dealer fees. It's out of state so I pay the TT&L at home.

Still from op description I would walk away.
I dont doubt they do that but its under controlled runs. When people are demoing bikes it can potentially be redline after redline.
Ive heard of store owners using vehicles and bikes as their own demo but thats impossible to prove and unless you're getting a crazy good deal its not worth it

Demo. You were talking about the demo although most here were getting you to go new. Everyone's assuming the worst with the demo. Too often traffic or controlled runs will keep the abuse down if any. I don't abuse bike on demo runs. Conditions on the street don't allow for it nor do I abuse others property.

Thanks! I was hoping I could do new for 21k but it may take a little more, and if that's the case I got to think hard. I was just thinking a demo for 20k, but now looking at a few used ones in the 18k range.

I agree with you. I have demo'ed a few bikes and don't come anywhere near redline. It's not my bike and I'm not familiar with it, no need to run it up. One of my demos was unsupervised, so I had all the opportunity.

At this time of the year, it will be hard to land the deal you're looking for. If you wait until the fall, you'll find it easier.
