About to order a brand new 1299S, talk me out of it

Hey guys... first post, woo!

This week, after months of agonising, I've decided to order a brand new 1299S. I've compared it against the traditional liter bikes that are out there, but I still come back to the 1299.

The demo I rode the other day didn't exactly put the bike's best foot forward. After only ~1000 miles, clearly they were rough miles, it had some surface rust on a few of the bolts, one of the control switches was broken, and the exhaust was stuffed on it.

Is this just a bad example of a thrashed bike, that's had a really rough 1000 miles and been left out in the weather? Or are these bikes delicate flowers?

What has been your experience with reliability and quality of fit/finsih?

Thanks,
B

Actually I take that back. It looks like you are in Aus so your license will be revoked shortly and you will be sorry.

Had mine nine months. Only ever had the traditional fours.

Fantastic mid corner stability and most flickable bike Ive ridden. When you acclimatise to the sweet handling , the aggressive power delivery I think you'll agree it instills passion like no other. I've never looked forward to the next ride on any other bike like I do on the 1299.
Mine is babied but the paint finish and materials used seem very good.

Not delicate flowers but need normal maintenance like any machine. Do your self a favour and read the manual when you buy the bike and learn a bit about it. Who are you buying it from ?
