15R Down

It's been 10 years since I've done any racing or trackdays. My first trackday this year left me with lingering doubts if I could get into this again.
Saturday was my second trackday and I am happy to say I'm back. The R handled beautifully. GPS/DDA showing 55 degree lean angles and 172 mph. As I got more comfortable I started pushing more but ended up tucking the front on T3, which is an uphill off camber turn that crests by the apex.
Saturday's consensus was that I was carrying too much speed and lean angle for the turn.
Monday evening I was given information that after I and 2 other riders all went down one after another, the corner was checked and they had to clean up some slippery stuff at the apex where my front let go. Still not sure if I was pushing too much though.
No injuries, leathers lightly scuffed.
Bike damage is minimal. Broken brake lever, bar, and right rear cowl. Just need to order the rear race glass to get her back out.
I'll strip her down and look for any hidden damage also.
The DP folding pegs did their job with just a little beveling and didn't lever the bike onto the tank like solid pegs are prone to from my experience. Can't wait to get back out there again.

I gotta say. You are a fucking champ.
Calling this minimal damage and wanting to get right back out there.. I salute you, Sir.

If that was my bike and leathers I would probably be crying for a few days.

It is scuffed now. Now it's time to push even harder. Got to get back into racing form for next year.

doesn't look bad. Those of us that have crashed understand shit happens and any wreck you walk away from was a good crash.

btw, Sharkskins. just released their 15+ tail and it looks awesome.

Twisted, glad to see you're ok. Sounds like you were having a blast and riding that R like it was meant to be ridden! Damage doesn't look all that bad from the pics. Good for you for dusting yourself off and jumping back in the ring!! Good excuse to put some miles on that Anniversario while the R is in the shop! Ride ON!!

If you really want to cry into your soup, remember Wilkson's toasted Panigale? Marshmallow anyone?

Looks like the tank was spared. Nice. Glad your OK. Not too fond of the carbon clutch case protector. Looks like it lost.

Thanks guys. I've been around race bikes way too long, this is very minimal. I could have taken one session off and had her repaired and then right back on the track. But I'd rather take her home and take her apart and go through her to make sure there is no hidden damage. Endodoc you are correct those carbon case covers suck. I will be replacing it with a wood craft side case cover.
Thanks from Blade Runner and Milepost
