No problem however on that overpriced over rated scooter you paid waaaaaaay too much for the only thing you will be seeing is a distant shot of the back of me. Denial folks. It's a sickness. Hopefully, treatable. Ducati just sucker punched the SL owners. They "exclusive" piece is non existent. Parts are for sale from a couple of places. Tamborini factory has all the parts for sale.the owners of the few bikes that have come up for sale can't get out of them what they paid for them because the hype of the V4 has all but sunk the short lived 1299SL into the abyss. Nice bike. Horrible buy. The 1199SL with a few miles on it is a monumentally better deal. Fact

I'm not entirely sure about that frame. They didn't put a lot of material around the steel inserts for the engine studs. Not that it's going to break but I have seen very similar designs have issues with the inserts working themselves loose in CF. I doubt it would ever be an issue as 90% of those bikes will never see 1k miles.

Something that you didn't mention is how the "numbered but not limited" 1299R FE affects the 1299SL resale. It looks like a phenomenal bike and it's 85% the bike for half the price of the 1299SL. If you spend the $10k on the parts you bought, the 1299R FE is now 96% the bike the 1299SL is. And we all know that the 1299R FE isn't going to hold it's value so what's that going to do to 1299SL prices?

I would never fault a 1299SL owner for buying one. It's an awesome bike, plain and simple. The guys who have the passion and desire to own the best should never sell themselves short. However, if any of them bought it not out of passion but to be an investment, i.e. it's going to hold it's value or appreciate, they're just not paying attention. It's not going to happen any time soon. The only question is if a sub 500 mile 1299SL is going to be a $50k motorcycle or a $40k motorcycle.

Damn, while I figured a motivated person could source the parts with some phone calls and digging, I still didn't expect to find them posted on ebay out in the open:

DUCATI PANIGALE CARBON FRAME/ 899-959-1199-1299 / TELAIO CARBONIO I PANIGALE | eBay

BST still claims that they cannot sell the wheels to the public but we'll see how long that lasts.
Thanks from youngR
