So you hang out at Chuckwalla quite a bit then? I'll get down there one of these days - hopefully this winter. You've taken your SLs out there?

my understanding is that FE = Panigale R with 1299 engine

the SL to me is special, each part is customer made with exotic material, spare no expense

If wife would allow it, i would've sold my BMW and my Panigale for the SL.

About price: yes, I bought it right. However, thats the advantage that anyone buying one today can do, and I believe that is the conversation that we are having. Be patient and talk to the sellers and see what happens. I wasn't going to be a player at $72k or whatever it was that the first owner of my bike paid.

What happens in two years when R/FE bikes are $30k with under 500 miles? I would be happy to buy one then and I would say that if 1199SL prices are mid $40's for a comparable bike, that's the right differential. Of course, I have no crystal ball with this stuff so it's just my worthless opinion based on my ownership experience over the years.
Worth a lot more then speculators who don't own one or biased sellers.

Well, this dealer has two of them with under 500 miles in like new condition and one of them has been sitting there for over a year or so. I hate to lowball them because their asking prices aren't bad but I don't want to pay for something that drops $15-20K at street price pushing it out the door. It is a crapshoot with the V4 in the horizon. It could drop like that if not more if the V4 is a hit (the Desmo really wasn't at the time) or if it isn't, it could go up.

Well then make the wife take an MSF class if she doesn't know how to ride and then have her demo a Panigale at the nearest Duc dealer. It could backfire on you if she buys the SL and then doesn't let you ride it.....

The FE is the Panigale R with the engine out of the SL minus sand cast cases and the piston liners, for longevity. It's a big step over the Panigale R, even with the euro 4 exhaust.
