959 Race prep

Has anyone prepped a 959 for racing yet?

I can't find any bodywork yet, is the 1299 bodywork the same?

will the stock quick shifter still work if you swap to GP shift?

Since it doesn't have the Bosch IMU, will the TC still work if you switch tire brands?

I'm thinking super stock type mods, pipe and upmap, air filter, bodywork, gearing. In other words, the bare minimum. For CCS Heavyweight competition and AHRMA Sound of Thunder.

Thanks!

Gino

Hi Gino!

bodywork is the 1299 equivalent.

No, for GP shift there is a rod with the microswitch in the other direction.
Better get a set or rearsets with GP shift using the stock rod.

Tires shuldn't be a problem as long as the real width and profile are close.
I ran Michelins on my 1199 , will race Stickboy's b-stones...

Cheers!

Phil

Phil I'm not following.....what rear sets are you using? You flip the stock rod or there is another one? From Ducati? For GP shift.

I am planning on using Dunlops.

Trying to avoid going down the electronics rabbit hole here.....

DP, CNC can both be used with GP or standard shift with the stock sensor. Woodcraft now offers rearsets for GP shift with the stock sensor.

Yes, ducati offers another rod for stock rearsets if you flip the link on the gearbox shaft.

However, CNC racing, Gilles woodcraft and many others allow using the stock rod for gp shift.

there was a fella on here recently who wanted to change his setup with a gp - rod, maybe you two can exchange parts?

Well, I don't actually have the bike yet. My thought was to buy a lightly used one, then race prep it. But now a "racy" one has come available locally. I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly it has all carbon bodywork and a monocoque carbon tail- Can't seem to find these online yet, so I don't know what the value of what I'm looking at is.

I can assume the bike will need shock, cartridge kit, gearing and rear sets of course
