I wonder if the mapping is just different between the Monster and the Diavel. Same engine, difference compression, and a little different bore and stroke.

Another comprehensive test to consider:

2014 Super Naked Street Brawl + Video

All that said, I'd rather have the MV Agusta Dragster 800. Smaller, hell load lighter, more fun wringing its neck and hearing that triple scream

This bike had no testing and was just race prepped . There is no way you could do that to a monster .

The Monster was not designed as a track bike, it was designed as a street bike. The Streetfighter is more appropriate for someone who wants a naked Ducati that can do double-duty at track days. The Streetfighter will run circles around the Monster at the track. Personally, I love the new Monster, I've been highly impressed with it every time I've ridden it. Super-comfortable, nice smooth power delivery with a broad torque curve, really good suspension and brakes, not sure what more you'd want for a street bike really. The magazines have all devolved into dyno charts and track tests for virtually every bike. I'm waiting for the inevitable Dual-Sport Track Shootout or the Harley vs. Indian Lap Time Smackdown, I know it's coming.....

The KTM makes a awesome tourer as well . I recently did a 3 day trip covered over 2000km .
I think it's fantastic how a motorcycle can do so well on a track and also be a great run around . It's the perfect bike the sort of bike I have been after for a long time
I have had many Ducati's but the KTM motor is on another level .

Thanks Jarel. I'm looking for a street bike so I can ride with my lady. My 1199 is the weapon of choice on the track. I think the Monster looks great and sounds good as well.

The new Monster is way better for passenger accommodations than the prior generation was. Go take one for a test ride!
