Stripping gas tank

I'm trying to end up with a brushed aluminum looking gas tank for my 1200 l. The plan is to chemically strip it and sand it all down to the bare material and brush using steel wool. However, a few people had made mention that the bare gas tank might not be perfect and it's common for factor to use filler before painting. If this is true, then stripping and clear coating won't work. Thoughts?

My Tri's tank that I had stripped, sanded, brushed and clear coated worked just fine. Cosmok bought it from me when I got my cf tank.

Why chemically strip first? Seems like a giant mess. Can't you just sand down to aluminum with an appropriate brush in an angle grinder?

From what I understand, chemically stripping makes it easier to sand it down. Is that not true?

Is it possible to sandblast the paint off the tank without ruining it? I have access to one.

I'm guessing you could but depending on the medium, it could create small imperfections, like small pin dings(?). Shouldn't be an issue if you're reprinting as the paint levels it off but not sure how it would be if it's to remain bare?

Have it soda blasted. Will not damage the aluminum . It is not a aggressive medium and is used where no damage must be caused to the substrate.
