Am I the only one that thinks it "just" sounds like an 1199 sporting Akras without the baffles?

While I'm completely stoked to pick up my SL and am surely victim to a fair number of delusional/hypothetical "differences" between it and the R/S/base, I too am having a hard time differentiating the sound from this video versus any 1199 sporting akras sans baffles.

If the video showed rev'ing to the redline then maybe we could witness the benefit of ti rods and and wind up speed, etc. However, even for that you'd surely need a side-by-side comparison and a blind evaluation.

Hate to say it but that sweet bike sounds like any other 1199 with Termi slips on it. Certainly sounds alike to my Tri and as someone stated above, without the extra 35k!

IMHO I'd like to say (from a european point of view) that every Pani sounds fantastic! I ordered an SL but I really give a damn how she sounds. That's because Ducati is - to my knowlegde - the only brand left that cares about sound. Every other brand tends nowadays to be politicaly correct.

I am driving motorcycles now since 1987. And my beloved Tri 2012 is by far the loudest, coolest sounding legal bike I ever had! I guess no one can imagine the efforts for Ducati engineers to find loopholes in EU legeal laws and implement this on a new bike. They even managed to create this silly Jap edition exhaust system. Tell me, which other brand put so much effort into really cool emotional sound?

If the SL sounds as cool as the standard Pani (and I am pretty sure about that=, I am already super-duper-happy!

We mostly agree. However the title for best sound goes to MV Agusta in my opinion:

I have to disagree, sorry...
I've got a MV F4, rode the new Rivale and heard the Brutale 800 Dragster. As long as you stick to the original exhaust, MV cannot hold this candle to Ducati :-)
I put Sihl and later on Ti Bodis exhausts onto my MV. Crazy cool sound! But I'd lost my license for 3 months because of this.

All my neigbors hate me, and really try to drive home at night as quietly as possible, but still everybody knows when I'm home. It's one of the things I love about this bike: having a big grin on my face telling the police officer "hey, it's legal!" :-))))

You need to move, too many Füdlibürger in your area.

When I get home, folks down the street hop in their cars and come to my house to look at the bike. But this might be related to me offering free beer, lol.
