That's the way I see it too. If the triple number was private information, it wouldn't be printed on the triple

Further, it is seen as an insult to crop out handlebars, foot pegs, or the headlight when taking photos of the Superleggera, as well as when taking photos of images and/or statues of the Superleggera.

lol @ statues

For the record, should any of you come across my SL out in the wild you are completely free to photograph it as you see fit, including the top of the tree. I'll update this post when I know my # (sometime next week, FSM-willing) so there's no confusion.

That said, finding an unattended SL out in the wild is surely going to be an unlikely event.

Is this guy serious??
If your bike is in public you have ZERO expectation of any privacy. If I want to take a photo of your car/bike/person I legally can and will if I want. Nothing "not cool" about taking a photo of something in public.

I'd be happy if somebody took photos of my R., in fact it happens every trip I take to Princeton.

Should I see an SL I'll be sure to snap a triple photo for ya :-)

rarely are "jersey shore" and "common courtesy" discussed together. . . .

Would it be best to remove the request for the triple tree picture?

FYI - I only posted that triple tree pic because a fellow owner posted that pic on our Ducati 1199 Facebook Page, so I assumed it was fair game.

Thoughts?

If its on Facebook its fair game. If they did not want the world to know it would not be on Facebook

I agree here. . . If its posted by the owner - its fine. . My disagreement is asking people that when they see an SL, to go up to the triple tree and take a picture and post it. That owner may have never wanted his bike posted, may have never posted it and may prefer not to have any identifying marks to be posted. That was the issue - not the ones that were already posted, but to go out and search and fine ones that had not been and snap a picture w/o the owners knowledge or consent. While its certainly not illegal (there are some private property concerns as well as if it somehow goes to commercial usage issues) - I classify this under the "not cool" and no common courtesy. . I have zero issues with the bike shot or posted. I just don't think it should go as far as the triple tree number as I have known some previous owners of certain numbered bikes that opposed people taking shots of their triple tree.

I can't figure out if @anthem is being serious... What can you possibly do with this number? Even if you had some inside track to dmv, what would you say... "I am looking for #55 of 100." They wouldn't have a clue what the f you were talking about.

An SL is a tiny speck in the universe.
