I was lukewarm on it until I saw it in person. No photo seems to do it justice.

Leaving the hint of carbon around the edges was a stroke of genius. All carbon with no paint is too much, but just enough to remind you it's there is cool. Plus no rock chips...

Paint is probably the best lookin thing on the bike. I don't agree with the bikes color scheme as a whole with the other bits on the bike but the paint itself is by far the best thing on there. The wheels IMO shoulda been a different color but I understand why that's not the case.

Congrats Jello. That is fabulous. I see a second hand one in my future a few years down the track.

Thanks for posting the picture. You should not have shaved your beard off though.

It looks pretty sharp in person for sure! No offense to any of the SL owners, but I actually prefer the R color scheme over the SL, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
I had a chance to take an SL for a spin and HOLYSHITBALLS! First off, It sounds amazing! That Akra Ti exhaust combined with the higher compression and lighter internals just takes the V-Twin to a new level yet again! Super snappy and throaty sound. Then, riding it on the same stretch of road that I just hit on my 'R, the SL felt extremely nimble and quick. Right away I could notice the reduced mass. The bike just want to fall over into the turns and any kind of rider input is welcomed with simple reaction of going where you want it to go. Very confidence inspiring. The acceleration was absolutely ridiculous as expected. It's basically the 'R on a bit of a 'roid rage. Good stuff boys! I'm jealous of the few that are bellying up to buy one! Hopefully these lightweight parts will prove relatively reliable and trickle down as DP parts for general consumption. I'd like to make my 'R feel as flickable as that SL!
FYI- One word of warning- That fluorescent orange paint fades amazingly quick. The bike I rode had a sticker on the tank saying to stay off. The sticker was pulled off and the paint under the sticker was already darker than the rest of the tank in the sun. I guess it has to do with UV attacking the pigments in the paint. You guys should probably clear wrap your bikes ASAP before they see daylight if you want to keep her looking new!

I think it's the fact that they used this orangy tint paint and I like the ducati red. Plus (and I'm sorry this is just me) I never cared for the white stripes ala desmosedici (didn't like it on that bike either). I mean it's $65K and I agree a R or a base "looks" better. I really like some of the prior special edition paint jobs like on the bayliss LE and such. Wish they would do something to that effect.

you do know that this "orangy tint" IS ducati red, right ? If you have ever seen any of their Motogp bikes in person its this same color. . the reason the color is what it is is because when this color shows on video or photographs out - it comes out ducati red. It was specially developed to come out Ducati red on reproduction.. . Dovizioso's Ducati (and Crutchlow but this is mostly black), and Rossi and Hayden before it - if you've ever seen the bike in person, its this same color. . . most people have no clue why its this 'orangy tint' as you call it because a) they've never been to MotoGP or actually have seen that all their race bikes are this color and b) they think "ducati red" but thats the reason - because ducati red doesn't come out ducati red.
