Yes, it deflates within a minute or so of the accident, I didn't even notice it until the adrenelin level went down and I realised it had deployed and deflated again. I wore it for the next two days races like a standard suit. It felt like it made enough difference during the crash that I was happy to buy another despite the high cost.

Glad you're ok Royal. Those highsides can really hurt.

Here's the vid of the last race. There's quite a lot of good overtakes into the melborne loop hairpin which is 2nd to last corner, plus on the last lap a very close overtake and a collision and sprint to the finish line at the end

I had the same experience in a crash in VIR last year. It was the first turn after the straightaway and long story short, it had rained the night prior, I hydroplaned in the run-off grass area, and crashed into a barrier... I landed on my shoulder/head. I can echo that:
a) I didn't feel the airbag deploying (and thought it was actually defective)
b) I wore the suit for the rest of the day and it was fine. I don't see why it shouldn't perform like a regular track suit
c) I didn't have any injuries - maybe lucky or maybe the suit helped
d) I was able to mail it from Toronto to California and get the suit refitted with a new airbag within two weeks. I had it rush-ordered and picked it up in person straight from the California Dainese store before a weekend at Streets of Willow.
