Ducati Performance (DP) Rear set installation problems - need help

Hello, I have been searching for threads on installing DP rear sets for several days. I found some great information about installing the DP rear set and it helped me get to where I am. However, I cannot find a thread to address the issue I am having.

Sorry if it exists.

My issue is installing the LH rear set. I want to use the High position with the straight gearbox configuration. According to the manual, I am supposed to use the shorter push-rod (93 mm) and the total length is supposed to be 184 mm. So, that is what I did. I have calipers and I measured at least three times before I tightened everything down and put everything together.

When I got the rear set on, the tie rod does not reach the gear transmission lever. It seems like it is about 10 mm short. Like I should be using the longer push-rod. Also, my bike did not seem to have the washer that goes between the gear lever and the tie-rod that is reference in the installation manual.

Did anyone else have this issue?

Also, what does the load cell do?

Here is an update. I was trying to use the quicker gear setting. I changed to the top whole and now everything seems to line up.

However, I cannot down shift now. I can only shift to higher gears. I ended going all the way up to 6. Does anyone know why this would be happening? I know the clutch is working because I can start it up with the clutch engaged (on rear stand) and no wheel motion. I disengage the clutch and the wheel starts moving.

Does anyone know why I cannot downshift?

I had removed the battery and disconnected the computer because I was doing some other things. Could that cause this?

You need to adjust the linkage so you have both up and down shifting. I go one turn at a time on the linkage and find center then set it there.

Everything seems to line up after I put the adjustment in standard position. Are you suggesting I increase the tie-rod length?

The shift rod will probably need to be adjusted to get your downshift back. The shift rod in mine does not have any exposed threads at the end with the rod-end. The linkage behind the shifter can also be adjusted. You need to make sure you have both up and down shift without any parts of the shifter hitting any other parts.
Thanks from duc

I had a similar problem when I installed my rearsets, though I set mine up for a reverse shift in the high position with short throw. The instructions suggested I use the shorter tierod, but there was no way that was going to work no matter how I adjusted the rearsets. At one point I did run into the same problem you had where it would only shift one way. Eventually I said screw it and switched to the longer rod and tried to adjust it to my liking. After lots of adjustment, I found a setup that I now love and actually works.

I found the DP instructions pretty bad and had other errors in it as well (one of the indicated bolt holes for the right heal guard is questionable). My experience is the instructions can be used as a rough guide but not a definitive statement to how it should be installed.

Agreed, it will get you close but you have to dial it all in to your liking. I like the fact that there are so many different ways to adjust them.

Ohh, and after you do get everything adjusted just the way you like it, take it all apart and loctite everything! If you lose something off it while riding, parts can be next to impossible to replace on these rearsets.

Anyone got the partnumbers for the two gear change pushrods? One is 93mm and the other one is 103mm.
