Lightbulb R connecting rod

For you technology enthusiastic:
Today I had a 1199R connecting rod in my hands. Not in it's final shape, but the raw piece after the forging process. Amazing piece of art in Titanium. They are made in Switzerland for Pankl. Connecting rod and rod cap are forged as one piece and splitted later. This guarantees perfect matching of the metallic structure of these mating pieces.

They have a bunch of those (finished) at Carrillo down the street. Pankl is Carrillo's parent company. If you need rods, thats the place to go.

How baggy are your pants and how many can you slip in your pockets?

They made the rods in my 1299. They already had their way with my bank account. Great bunch of guys though. Very helpful and professional.

Yep Carrillo has always had a great reputation whether it be drag or road racing. First time I held one was when Mike Velasco handed me one that he had just chamfered. Pankl is the name that I didn't know till Ducati. Didn't know they were related.

Endo, you've mentioned Carillo in one of your previous builds and said they're better than Ducati, but essentially what you're saying is they're now the same?

Do Carillo produce higher quality bespoke parts and Pankl, although still quality, are mass producing? It's not a dig, just a genuine question.

Pankl took over Carrillo back in 2008 (https://www.pankl.com/fileadmin/user...llo_end_01.pdf). Both companies were not affiliated to Ducati.

But if it comes to top notch conrods (post 2014Rs and SLs), Pankl/Carrillo is THE company, even for Ducati

I don't think I said that at all. If it was in the post where I was going head to head with the SL build then yes, the pieces from Carrillo/Pankl are for sure a more high end con rod that Ducati puts in their motors. The Pankl Ti pieces that ship from Ducati in the OEM bikes are not Pankl's top of the line parts. I think the Steel Carrillo rods are excellent and certainly a nicer piece than your going to find in any OEM motor.
Thanks from Twistedracer, Mutt1979 and Milepost
