If that new Akra produces more HP and torque than the under belly exhaust, a bet a few racers would be more than happy to install them and run them. Looks be damned.

Why does everything have to look like big f*cking trumpets all of a sudden? Can the cans just have parallel lines instead of the wanky looking taper?

That is because it is! The exhaust cans are sitting too low. IMHO - it should be tucked in a little higher and farther back, much like the old 999 exhaust.
