I would take the 1299S as it sounds like a more refined 1199 with better motor, electronics pkg, better electronic suspension. Overall all a better bike. As far as resale I think the 1299S would have the edge just for being newer with new upgrades and the 13' R is the least special R ever built.

1299S or '13 1199R

I had the same thoughts last year and went with the 1299s, I wanted a bit more of an road biased bike. After having x2 999r I wanted a break from the high value bike. Although it make financial sense to by the R if you will plan to fit exhaust and carbon etc, but you can't really split the parts out when you resale.

I am still super happy with my R and never had any problem with it on the street (no trackdays/trainings). And there are many goodies like lots of carbonfibre, 2 exhaust systems, lighter overall weight etc.

And it has been built only for a very short time and it is the only R with LED-lighting and electronic suspension. So I think it will always have a better value than a standard 1299(S), well the used 1299S are here in Switzerland already cheaper than a used and drive 1199 Panigale R.
