New to Ducati, deposit on 1299s complete!

Hello all, Im Nelson(Ness) from the Dallas, TX. New to Ducati, but have been riding for about 10yrs. I went to our local Ducati dealer with my wife on Valentines day and secured a 1299s due in April. Seeing that I have never ridden a Ducati, Im very excited to see what this beautiful machine has to offer! Im am currently riding a "modified" 2012 BMW s1000RR that I purchased new in June of 2012 and my wife also rides a 2012 BMW s1000RR . She has been riding a little longer then I have and Im most certain she will also be piloting the 1299s once it arrives. Im Interested in seeing how the BMW and Ducati will compare and plan on doing a video about the two. Excited to see what Ducati is all about

80shilling have you had seat time on a Ducati before? Interested if you have a comparison between the two. I sat on the 1299s display.... You can tell a huge weight difference from the BMW! Who knows, maybe with exhaust and a nice tune it will rival the hp of the BMW.

I Ride: 1299s
I had also a early S1000rr and switched after two seasons to the beautiful 1199S.
I ordered the 1199 immediately after i saw the bike at the EICMA show and i never regret this step.

Same procedure--- next bike -- 1299S awaiting end of march!

Enjoy your Duc!
Thanks from TexRR

yes, I have had quite a lot of seat time; a friend of mine owns a dealership in San Francisco, so I got to ride the 1199 a lot. I didn't buy one, because of the lack of low end and midrange, as well as the heat issue and lumpy fueling, but the 1299 seems to have fixed every gripe I had with the 1199. I always liked the fact that it felt like it was 50lbs lighter than the S1000RR, so the 1299S with a full Ti Akrapovic and a couple of other tricks to lighten it, should get me to around 405 lbs full of gas, which should put it at the same weight as my Triumph Daytona 675R with a Ti full exhaust, maybe even a bit lighter.

CHEERS.
