I Ride: KTM 690 R Enduro and the 1299S awaits me in Germany
Hello from Mexico

Quick intro: I'm orginally from Germany but work since3 years in Mexico.
I have a history of about 35 years with Ducati. I rode my Pantah about 100k until she retired in 1995 and still awaits the final touch of restauration.
The 900 SS Nuda that replaced her had a much shorter live of 4 months and 10 k in 1995 and ended with a critical crash.
But it was not the end of the love affair. I still immediatly identify the characteristic sound immediately and am touched by the aura of Ducati's superbikes.

I skip the details of the years since.

On a track day at Bruenn with Speer Racing my neighbour in the box had a Panigale S which just thrilled me.

Early June I visited the local Ducati dealer, had a close look to the 959 (US-spec with the under engine exhaust) and the 1299, heard the Panigales, especialy one with the full Akrapovic. A visit to the box at a track day on the F1 circuit in DF got me finally and completly hooked.

Here in Mexico I ride also a KTM 690 Enduro R, mainly for back-country exploration trips in Mexico and Central America.

Most roads in Mexico have lots of surprises, topes (sleeping policemen), potholes and so on that only on pre-scouted routes an adequate riding would be possible, aside of track days.

But, here in Mexico no one cares about noise restriction, EPA, TUEV etc. ... .
That is like in the 80's with my Pantah, open intake, short Contis. What a temptation.

I joined this forum because I am short of buying a Panigale and look forward to some competent advice.

Hi, and welcome to THE panigale forum.

another german here. I'm in Mexico frequently. Where in Mx are you?

I have thought about riding in Mexico a lot and came to the conclusion that i love my life too much, for all the reasons you mentioned.

Good luck though!

Hi Phl,

I live in CdMx and haven't had any really bad situations, neither in México nor in Central America so far.

The 690 is good for this purpose, as even bad surprises like large and deep potholes, topes and so on will not kill the bike. And if the tarmac ends, the fun starts ...

No reason to be afraid of México!

But what I reallly miss is ...
