Honda EU2000 Generator Competitors?

I'm in the market for a new portable generator. I have experience with the Honda EU2000i and it's a GREAT unit, but expensive.

Does anyone have experience with comparable (cheaper) models? There's a number of off-brand 2000Watt gensets but I don't know much about them. If you have experience and can recommend any let me know.

The only one I would trust like the Honda is the Yamaha EF2000iSv2. Other than that.I really can not recommend anything else. You can find Yamaha generators at your local Yamaha bike shop or Cabela's. If you ask me what I own. I have a Honda EU2000i 2000W Its quiet and runs my tire warmers and small fan perfectly.

the inverter type Honda and yamaha are the best, quiet, and have a pure / clean sine wave which is safer for electronic components . non inverter style generators can cause damage to some electronic components.

the inverter technology is some of what you're paying for - which produces pure sine wave. maybe better than what you're getting out of a wall outlet .

I've always been leery of the cheap generators for this reason .

I've always just used my little Honda 1000 for my warmers. I'm not a fan of corporate Honda so they stuck KTM stickers on mine to sell it to me.

Love my Honda and only considered the Yamaha as the other option. Price wise and reviews are comparable between the two.

I just bought a Ryobi 2200 watt inverter/generator. It was on sale at Home Depot for $500. Works great and is fairly quiet.

I bought the Smartertools 2000 Watt generator for $600 at Costco and has been working out great. They are built with Yamaha motors.
