I went with the race seat but cut it down out about 1/2" of foam out of the thickest part. Works great now.

The stock seat is just worthless.

LA Rider, I have the race seat; had an upholsterer shave off half an inch (he said he did more) and re-cover it. He charged less than 70 bucks. I liked it fine, but I realized there was plenty of foam height left. So I took off another half inch on my own. Removed the cover again, marked area to cut using a pencil, used a sharp knife and serrated blades to cut a grid pattern, cut out the grid squares, ended up with a very rough surface but at about the height I had marked, then sanded the hell out of the foam surface till it was smooth and even, just eyeballing it. Then used some spray adhesive on the foam, stretched and smoothed cover back on. The seat's new profile made this a bit tricky, and restapling was a pain. But the height is perfect for me now, the grip is excellent, you're much more "in" the bike, and there is still enough of that high-density foam for comfort -- way more comfortable than stock, even though height now roughly the same. Plus, it was a reasonably easy and fun little project for a weekend.

Race seat is wonderful for the grip and shape. I can see how height would be a problem for some but its a godsend for me (6')

I didn't know they had three different seats but after about 600 miles I knew I needed a better seat on my R, I really like the comfort seat and under heavy braking my balls thank me every time.....

Had the opportunity to try both the race and comfort seat on my pani. I'm 5'7" so, either initially felt too 'tall' for me. The comfort seat was more pliable, and with my fat butt, squished down a bit more than the race seat. It was a bit easier to get my feet down than the race seat, so I purchased the comfort seat.

100% improvement on accelerating, and braking feel. I'm not sliding around back and forth. it inspires a bit more confidence.

Well damn, if I had known that, I would have just swapped ya. Now I'll be selling my comfort seat. But thanks again for selling yours to me.

+1 This is how it's done! No sliding around. Especially, under hard braking... Smashing your gentleman sausage and beans into the tank is memorable and a quick correction will be seeked. i.e. Race seat

Would it be possible to purchase the same fabric as the race seat to have it put on the comfort seat? Anyone know what the fabric is called?

The stock seat is truly the worst seat I have ever sat on. Being incredibly slippery on the track is only made worse by the horrible downhill slope. If you ride these bikes hard with the incredible brakes, it is hard to stay off the tank and harder to be light on the bars. That being said, you give Ducati too much credit for doing it to sell aftermarket parts. It was only to sell bike to all riders. As those of you who wave updated the seats know, you need at least a 30" inseam to put your feet down.
I still have stock seat and hate it on the track.other than a long straight I rarely "sit" on the seat, I just kinda hover, but when I hang off, I count on the back of my leg gripping seat. I wanted to sit on race and comfort seats before pulling the trigger on the expensive upgrades. I may still try to repad the stock seat to be level and upholster with grippy dirtbike material. I've sat on both now and the race seat is pretty good.
